    USACE issues small craft advisory for Arkansas River

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is issuing a small craft advisory for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System in Arkansas. Heavy rainfall in western Arkansas over the last 24 hours will result in Arkansas River flows exceeding 70,000 cubic feet per second over the next few days.

    USACE announces temporary closure of River Run East Recreation Area 

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will temporarily close access to the River Run East Recreation Area on Millwood Lake from Feb. 3, 2024, until further notice for dam embankment repairs.

    MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-06 Lock 9 Tow Haulage Return to Service

    The tow haulage equipment at Ormond Lock (No. 9) NM 176.9 has been repaired and returned to service.

    MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-05 Lock 13 Tow Haulage Out of Service

    The tow haulage equipment at James W. Trimble (No. 13) NM 292.8 is currently out of service. Double cut tows will have to be locked the conventional way (without the use of tow haulage). A follow up notice will be distributed when the tow haulage equipment is back in service.

    his is to advise mariners transiting the White River Entrance Channel (WREC) of increased head differentials between Norrell Lock and Dam and Montgomery Point Lock and Dam.

    MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-03 Lock 7 Reopened

    Repairs to the hydraulic piping at Murray Lock and Dam (No. 7) NM 125.4 have been completed. The lock is currently open to traffic.

    MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-02 Lock 7 Closure

    Due to an unexpected hydraulic piping failure, Murray Lock and Dam (No. 7) NM 125.4 is currently closed to navigation until further notice. Crews are onsite making emergency repairs at this time. A follow up notice will be distributed as soon as the Lock is reopened to navigation.

    USACE lifts small craft advisory for Arkansas River

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is lifting the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Small craft advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. While flows are receding, USACE officials urge boaters to always exercise caution when on the river.

    USACE announces recreation fee increase at Nimrod and Blue Mountain Lakes

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nimrod-Blue Mountain Project Office is raising recreation fees at facilities on both lakes starting Jan. 1, 2025. The nightly rate for standard 30-amp electric campsites will increase to $22, the nightly rate for standard 50-amp electric campsites will increase to $24 and the fee for group shelters will increase to $60 per day.
