    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Army Corps of Engineers has issued a small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Recent rains in Oklahoma and Arkansas have caused flows to rise. During high flows, strong currents and large debris can threaten the safety of pleasure craft.

    MKARNS - The closure dates and times of Joe Hardin Lock (No. 3) NM 50.2, first announced in Navigation Notice No. SWL 18-58, have been changed. The closure will now take place in two parts. First closure: from 6:00 AM on January 14 to 6:00 AM on January 15, 2019. Second closure: from 6:00 AM on January 16 to 6:00 AM on January 17, 2019.
  • CORPS LIFTS SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR ARKANSAS RIVER

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers has lifted the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. Even though flows have receded below that threshold, Corps officials urge boaters to always use caution when on the river.

Flows on the river below Little Rock are about 75,000 cubic feet per second.

    MKARNS - Joe Hardin Lock (No. 3) NM 50.2 will be closed to navigation traffic on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System from 6 a.m. on January 9 until 11:59 p.m. on January 10.

    BRANSON, Mo. - Dewey Short Visitor Center will be closing for the season in mid-December. The last day of operation for the 2018 season will be Saturday, Dec. 15. The visitor center will reopen for the 2019 season on Friday, Feb. 15.
