• CORPS REOPENS SHOAL BAY SWIM BEACH ON LAKE DARDANELLE

    The Corps of Engineers, Russellville Project Office reopened Shoal Bay swim beach on Lake Dardanelle. The beach was temporarily closed last month because of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by the Arkansas Department of Health. Officials have retested the swim beach and determined that it is safe for public use.

    HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – One lane of Highway 25 across Greers Ferry Dam will close temporarily from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. June 24 through June 25.
  • CORPS LIFTS SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR ARKANSAS RIVER

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers has lifted the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. Even though flows have receded below that threshold, Corps officials urge boaters to always use caution when on the river.

    The Army Corps of Engineers issued a small craft advisory for the Arkansas River from Conway, Ark. downstream. Recent heavy rains caused flows to rise. During high flows, strong currents and large debris can threaten the safety of pleasure craft.

    MKARNS - The Monday through Thursday recreational vessel lock closures for maintenance at locks 3 - 13 will be temporarily suspended June 23 through June 26, 2014 for the Big Bass Bonanza fishing tournament along the Arkansas section of the Arkansas River. The closures will resume at 10 a.m. on June 30, 2014.
