    MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 16-41 Restricted Zone Advisory NM 289 to NM 292.8

    Ft. Smith, AR - A Military Exercise “Restricted Zone” will close the Arkansas River (NM 289.0 to NM 292.8-Trimble Lock and Dam) to all traffic July 19 from 4:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

    CORPS URGES WATER SAFETY DURING HOLIDAY WEEKEND

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –The Independence Day holiday is typically among the busiest times of the year at the region’s lakes and rivers, and officials of the Army Corps of Engineers say they expect this year will be no exception. However, they warn visitors to practice good water safety habits to avoid accidents that could result in serious injury or death.

    Little Rock, AR - To ensure the safety of life and property during the Pops on the River fireworks display in Little Rock, AR, a safety zone will be established by the Coast Guard for the Arkansas River from mile marker 118.8 to mile marker 119.5.

    CORPS CLOSES SWIM BEACH IN DAM SITE PARK ON GREERS FERRY LAKE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

    HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers, Greers Ferry Project Office has closed the day use swim beach in Dam Site Park on Greers Ferry Lake until further notice. The beach is located on the right side of the causeway heading to “Trouble Island” in Dam Site Park. The temporary closure is the result of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by the Arkansas Department of Health.

    MKARNS - The Little Rock District Corps of Engineers and the Arkansas Waterways Commission are conducting the Three Rivers Feasibility Study, which is assessing long-term solutions to erosion near the Montgomery Point Lock and Dam (river mile 0.5) at the confluence of the Arkansas, White and Mississippi rivers.

    MKARNS - David D. Terry Lock (No. 6) will be closed to navigation traffic from 6 a.m. Aug. 29 to 6 p.m. Sept. 4. During this closure repairs will be made to the seals on the downstream miter gates.
