• CORPS USES LAST RESORT METHOD TO DISCOURAGE VULTURES FROM DAMAGING DAMS

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers’ Mountain Home Project Office will use a last resort method in upcoming months to discourage hundreds of vultures from damaging the infrastructures at Bull Shoals and Norfork dams.

    ASHDOWN, Ark. - The Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District began larger releases from Millwood Lake after flood waters downstream receded. Millwood crested June 14 at 282.9 feet, a new pool of record elevation. The Corps will continue to increase releases from Millwood, as channel capacity allows, until the lake elevation is back down to elevation 259 feet, the top of its conservation pool.

    MKARNS - Mariners are advised that a shoal has been reported in the vicinity of NM 178, approximately 1 to 2 miles upstream of Arthur V. Ormond Lock (No. 9). Mariners are advised to use extreme caution in this area, and to contact the Ormond Lock Operator via radio on Channel 16 or by phone (501) 354-8402 for the latest information.

    MKARNS - The Big Bass Bonanza fishing tournament along the Arkansas section of the Arkansas River has been rescheduled. The dates for suspension of the recreational vessel lock closures for maintenance at Locks 03 - 13 will now be from July 13 through July 19, 2015.

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Army Corps of Engineers reminds boaters that a small craft advisory for the Arkansas River is still in place. Even though flows have decreased the advisory will be in effect for several more weeks.
  • CORPS REOPENS DEVILS FORK SWIM BEACH AT GREERS FERYY LAKE

    HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers, Greers Ferry Project Office has reopened Devils Fork swim beach. The swim beach was temporary closed because of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by the Arkansas Department of Health.
  • CORPS CLOSES LAKEVIEW SWIM BEACH ON BULL SHOALS LAKE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers, Mountain Home Project Office has closed Lakeview swim beach on Bull Shoals Lake until further notice. The temporary closure is the result of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by the Arkansas Department of Health. Swimming is not recommended in areas with high bacteria levels.
