    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Independence Day holiday is typically one of the three busiest weekends of the year at the region’s lakes and rivers, and this year, will likely be no exception with the long holiday weekend looming. It is a great time for outdoor water fun, but Army Corps of Engineers officials advise everyone to practice good water safety habits.

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers, Mountain Home Project Office has announced that Lakeview Park swim beach on Bull Shoals Lake has been cleared of higher than acceptable E. coli levels. Water samples from the swim beach have been retested and determined that it is safe for public use.
  • CORPS SEEKS COMMENTS ON DOCUMENTS RELATED TO FLOOD RISK REDUCTION STUDY IN RUSSELLVILLE

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The Army Corps of Engineers' Little Rock District is seeking public comments through July 27 on environmental documents relating to a flood risk reduction study along Prairie Creek and tributaries in Russellville, Ark.

    ROGERS, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District will be making spillway releases from Beaver Dam during an unscheduled outage of its hydropower turbines.

    MKARNS (NM 289.0 - NM 293.0) - A Military Exercise “Restricted Zone” will close the Arkansas River (NM 289.0 to NM 293.0) to all traffic August 4, 2015 from 4:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The 841st Engineering Battalion will be conducting a bridge crossing exercise.
  • Corps Cautions Lake Users, Issues Update on Available Recreation Areas

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. - The Army Corps of Engineers is urging all visitors to Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes to exercise extreme caution while water levels are high. Campers, swimmers, and boaters visiting park areas should use extreme caution and be aware that certain recreation areas may be closed to the public for their protection. Boaters should be aware that with the higher water conditions objects normally out of the water are now submerged and difficult to see.
  • CORPS USES LAST RESORT METHOD TO DISCOURAGE VULTURES FROM DAMAGING DAMS

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers’ Mountain Home Project Office will use a last resort method in upcoming months to discourage hundreds of vultures from damaging the infrastructures at Bull Shoals and Norfork dams.

  • AFTER RECORD CREST, CORPS OF ENGINEERS BEGINS PROCESS OF LOWERING MILLWOOD LAKE

    ASHDOWN, Ark. - The Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District began larger releases from Millwood Lake after flood waters downstream receded. Millwood crested June 14 at 282.9 feet, a new pool of record elevation. The Corps will continue to increase releases from Millwood, as channel capacity allows, until the lake elevation is back down to elevation 259 feet, the top of its conservation pool.
