  • Corps lifts small craft advisory for Arkansas River

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers has lifted the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. Even though flows have receded below that threshold, Corps officials urge boaters to always use caution when on the river.
  • ONE LANE OF HIGHWAY 187 ACROSS BEAVER DAM TO TEMPORILY CLOSE FOR BRIDGE INSPECTION

    ROGERS, Ark. – One lane of Highway 187 across Beaver Dam will be closed from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3 to conduct a bridge inspection.
  • CORPS TO HOST OPEN HOUSES FOR BULL SHOALS MASTER PLAN REVISIONS

    The Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District is hosting a series of open houses about the Bull Shoals Lake Draft Master Plan and Draft Environmental Assessment. The open houses will be held between Aug. 4 and Aug. 8 to share information about the draft documents and to collect public comments.

    MKARNS - Due to shallow pool conditions and until further notice, mariners are advised to use caution from NM 143.0 through NM 254.8. No passing is advised while transiting through these locations. This information is based on a preliminary reconnaissance survey, and conditions may change as water flow rates reduce. Recent high water flows have also resulted in numerous buoys no longer in their original locations.
  • Clearwater Lake Update -Special Deer Hunts

    PIEDMONT, Mo. – The Army Corps of Engineers, Clearwater Lake staff is proud to announce that applications are available for our annual Wounded Warrior deer hunt, Oct. 17 through Oct. 18, as well as our annual mobility impaired deer hunt for non-ambulatory hunters, Oct. 24 through Oct. 25. Both hunts will take place within Clearwater Lake’s Watchable Wildlife Area.

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers will take applications through Sept. 1 for the 2015 special deer hunts that provide accessibility to disabled military and mobility impaired hunters.

    MKARNS - The Big Bass Bonanza fishing tournament along the Arkansas section of the Arkansas River has been rescheduled. The dates for suspension of the recreational vessel lock closures for maintenance at Locks 3-13 will now be from July 27 through July 30, 2015.

    Remember the drought? What a difference a year can make. I arrived at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division in Dallas about a year ago, and most of the region was in some stage of drought. News coverage highlighted striking images of thirsty lakes, shorelines receding with lakebeds cracked and dry, and low Corps reservoir levels. Communities chafed under lawn watering restrictions.
