  • CORPS CLOSES THREE SWIM BEACHES AT NORFORK AND

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers, Mountain Home Project Office has closed three swim beaches on Norfork and Bull Shoals Lakes until further notice. The beaches affected are Lead Hill and Oakland Beaches on Bull Shoals Lake, as well as Panther Bay Beach on Lake Norfork. The temporary closure is the result of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by the Arkansas Department of Health.
  • CORPS LIFTS SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR ARKANSAS RIVER

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers has lifted the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. Even though flows have receded below that threshold, Corps officials urge boaters to always use caution when on the river.
  • ONE LANE OF HIGHWAY 177 ACROSS NORFORK DAM TO TEMPORILY CLOSE FOR DAM MAINTENANCE

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – One lane of Highway 177 across Norfork Lake will be closed at 6:30 a.m. each Monday and remain closed until 6 p.m. each Thursday except federal holidays beginning Monday, June 24 for about 180 days to conduct maintenance on the dam’s tainter gates. Both lanes will be open Friday thru Sunday.
  • NAV NOTICE SWL 13-26 MKARNS - TOW HAULAGE PROCEDURES DURING HIGH FLOWS

    MKARNS - This notice is a reminder to mariners that during high flows on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, the following procedures will be in effect.
  • NAV NOTICE SWL 13-25 MKARNS - LOCK CLOSURE AND INTERMITTENT DELAYS

    MURRAY L&D - Mariners are advised that continued intermittent delays may be experienced at Murray Lock and Dam (No. 7) NM 125.4 daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through June 17, while repair of the parapet wall takes place. The lock will be closed to navigation traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on June 18 to place concrete on the upstream long wall.
  • NAV NOTICE SWL 13-24 MKARNS CAUTION ADVISORY AT NM 119.4

    Little Rock, AR - Mariners are advised to use caution at NM 119.4 due to repairs to the slope failure on the right descending bank (Arkansas River Bike Trail).
  • NAV NOTICE SWL 13-23 MKARNS SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

    MKARNS - Due to possible shoaling, Mariners are advised that until further notice, both upbound and southbound tows should run the green line while between NM 178.5 and NM 179.5
  • NAV NOTICE SWL 13-22 MKARNS - TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF LOCK CLOSURES

    OZARK JETA-TAYLOR L&D and JAMES W. TRIMBLE L&D - Due to rainfall across Oklahoma and Arkansas in the past several days, Ozark-Jeta Taylor L&D (No.12) NM 256.8 and James W. Trimble L&D (No. 13) NM 292.8 will suspend their daily lock closure for maintenance periods until flows recede.
  • NAV NOTICE SWL 13-21 - MKARNS USCG SAFETY ZONE CANCELLED

    LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Safety Zone previously established by the Coast Guard for June 1, 2013, has been cancelled. The Arkansas River Canoe and Kayak Race will now take place on the Little Maumelle River, due to high flows on the MKARNS. There will be no restrictions to navigation traffic.
  • CORPS TO LAUNCH PYROTECHNICS AT VULTURES AROUND BULL SHOALS DAM

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers Mountain Home Project Office personnel will begin using pyrotechnics next week to disperse hundreds of vultures that continue to damage Bull Shoals Dam and powerhouse.
