  • CORPS REOPENS THREE SWIM BEACHES AT NORFORK AND BULL SHOALS LAKES

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers, Mountain Home Project Office has reopened three swim beaches on Norfork and Bull Shoals Lakes. The reopened beaches are Lead Hill and Oakland Beaches on Bull Shoals Lake, as well as Panther Bay Beach on Lake Norfork.

    MKARNS - Due to possible shoaling, mariners are advised that until further notice, both upbound and downbound tows should run the green line while between NM 178.4 and NM 179.4, 50 feet off the red line between NM 224.7 and 225.5, and the red line between NM 249.0 and 250.0.

    MKARNS - Effective July 1, 2013, the daily closures implemented as part of the Inland Marine Transportation System (IMTS) Levels of Service initiative will cease at the Locks of Ozark (No. 12) NM 256.8, Trimble (No. 13) NM 292.8, Webbers Falls (No. 16) NM 366.6, Chouteau (No. 17) NM 401.4 and Newt Graham (No. 18.) NM 421.6.

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers, Mountain Home Project Office has closed three swim beaches on Norfork and Bull Shoals Lakes until further notice. The beaches affected are Lead Hill and Oakland Beaches on Bull Shoals Lake, as well as Panther Bay Beach on Lake Norfork. The temporary closure is the result of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by the Arkansas Department of Health.
  • CORPS LIFTS SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR ARKANSAS RIVER

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers has lifted the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. Even though flows have receded below that threshold, Corps officials urge boaters to always use caution when on the river.
  • ONE LANE OF HIGHWAY 177 ACROSS NORFORK DAM TO TEMPORILY CLOSE FOR DAM MAINTENANCE

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – One lane of Highway 177 across Norfork Lake will be closed at 6:30 a.m. each Monday and remain closed until 6 p.m. each Thursday except federal holidays beginning Monday, June 24 for about 180 days to conduct maintenance on the dam’s tainter gates. Both lanes will be open Friday thru Sunday.

    MKARNS - This notice is a reminder to mariners that during high flows on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, the following procedures will be in effect.
  • NAV NOTICE SWL 13-25 MKARNS - LOCK CLOSURE AND INTERMITTENT DELAYS

    MURRAY L&D - Mariners are advised that continued intermittent delays may be experienced at Murray Lock and Dam (No. 7) NM 125.4 daily from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through June 17, while repair of the parapet wall takes place. The lock will be closed to navigation traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on June 18 to place concrete on the upstream long wall.
