    MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 17-18 Locks 8 and 9 Anticipated Closures

    MKARNS - Due to high flows on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, it is anticipated that the Toad Suck Ferry Lock (No. 8) NM 155.9 and the Arthur V. Ormond Lock (No. 9) NM 176.9 will close to traffic during the weekend.

    CORPS TO INCREASE RELEASES FROM NORFORK DAM SPILLWAY

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Little Rock District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is increasing releases from Norfork Dam to 49,600 cubic feet to begin at 10 a.m. today because of 10 inches of rain that fell yesterday within Norfork Lake’s drainage basin. With more rain in the forecast, larger releases could become necessary.

    CORPS INCREASES RELEASES FROM CLEARWATER DAM

    PIEDMONT, Mo. – Heavy overnight rains fell over the Clearwater Lake drainage basin requiring discharges through the conduit to increase this morning to 4,000 cubic feet per second. Releases may be increased to as much as 10,000 c.f.s. The largest release ever made from Clearwater was 4,000 c.f.s. in 2011.

With more rain in the forecast, larger releases could become necessary.
