LITTLE ROCK, Ark., -  The Army Corps of Engineers has extended the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River from Fort Smith, Ark. downstream. During high flows, strong currents and large debris can threaten the safety of pleasure craft.

Small craft advisories are issued when flows exceed 70,000 cubic feet per second.

Flows at Trimble Lock and Dam near Fort Smith, Ark. are 74,000 c.f.s. and climbing. Dardanelle Lock and Dam at Russellville are about 78,000 c.f.s. Flows at Murray Lock and Dam at Little Rock are about 94,000 c.f.s.  Flows at Emmett Sanders Lock and Dam at Pine Bluff are about 103,000 c.f.s. Flows at Mills Dam at Arkansas Post are about 110,000 c.f.s.

More rain could push flows higher or cause the advisory to remain in effect longer.  Daily river information can be obtained at www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil or the Corps’ mobile App which can be found in mobile App stores by searching for USACE Little Rock.
