    CORPS TO BEGIN SPILLWAY RELEASE JUNE 24 FROM NORFORK DAM

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- The Army Corps of Engineers will begin spillway releases June 24 from Norfork Dam as part of the ongoing effort to evacuate water captured during heavy spring rains.

    CORPS CAUTIONS THAT ARKANSAS RIVER STILL TOO HIGH FOR RECREATION

    The Army Corps of Engineers continues to urge everyone to stay off the Arkansas River. Even though flood waters are receding, flows are still high and can pose a severe risk. Flows on the river are currently around 160,000 cubic feet per second and the Corps issues small craft advisories at 70,000 cubic feet per second.

    MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 19-41 Locks 8 - 9 Reopened - Limited Operating Hours

    MKARNS - Arthur V. Ormond Lock (No 9) NM 176.9, and Toad Suck Ferry Lock (No 8) NM 155.9 are reopened to navigation traffic. Until further notice these locks will only be available for lockage from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM each day, and tow haulage is currently unavailable.

    MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 19-40 Reported Sunken Barges At NM 73.2 and NM 118.2

    MKARNS - Mariners are advised that the Little Rock District and the U.S. Coast Guard have been notified of a sunken spud barge at approximately NM 73.2, located on the edge of the navigation channel, and is marked with a lit flashing buoy. A second sunken barge, reported at NM 118.2 in Little Rock, is not in the navigation channel, and is located along the right descending bank, between the shoreline and the rock training structures.

    CORPS TO CLOSE ONE LANE OF HIGHWAY 187 ACROSS BEAVER DAM FOR ROUTINE BRIDGE INSPECTION

    ROGERS, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers is closing one lane of the Arkansas Highway 187 bridge across Beaver Dam from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. June 26 to conduct a routine bridge inspection.

    MKARNS - Ozark-Jeta Taylor Lock (No. 12) NM 256.8 is closed to navigation due to silt and debris interfering with operation of the lock’s miter gates.

    MKARNS - Starting Monday, June 17, 2019, the Colonel Charles D. Maynard Lock (No. 5), the David D. Terry Lock and Dam (No. 6) and Murray Lock (No. 7) NM 125.4 will reopen to navigation traffic.

    CORPS CLOSES ACCESS TO ROADWAYS AND FACILITIES BELOW MILLS DAM UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

    TICHNOR, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers, Pine Bluff Site Office has temporarily closed roadways and facilities below Wilbur D. Mills Dam until further notice because of a high voltage transmission tower that became unstable during the recent flooding event.
