    MKARNS - Due to high flows on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, the Colonel Charles D. Maynard Lock (No. 5) NM 86.3 2 will close to traffic at 5:00 PM today.

    CORPS CLOSES SWIM BEACHES ON BEAVER LAKE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

    ROGERS, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers, Beaver Project Office has closed swim beaches at Hickory Creek and Prairie Creek parks, as well as the swim beaches in the Horseshoe Bend Day Use Area and the Rocky Branch camping area on Beaver Lake until further notice. The temporary closure is the result of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by the Arkansas Department of Health.

    CORPS UPDATES FLOW FORECAST FOR ARKANSAS RIVER

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers has updated the flow forecast for the Arkansas River in Arkansas as rain continues to fall in the river’s drainage basin in Oklahoma and Kansas. The updated flows are expected to exceed the flows experienced in May of 1990.

    MKARNS - Mariners are advised that flows on the Arkansas River are anticipated to exceed those from the May 1990 flood event due to persistent rainfall in Oklahoma. In May 1990 the peak flows were approximately 400,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) in Van Buren, 450,000 cfs in Little Rock and 420,000 cfs in Pine Bluff

    ROGERS, Ark. - The Army Corps of Engineers is urging all visitors to Beaver Lake to exercise caution while water levels are high. Campers, swimmers, and boaters visiting park areas should be aware that certain amenities may be closed to the public for their protection.
