  • USACE issues small craft advisory for Arkansas River

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is issuing a small craft advisory for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System in Arkansas. Heavy rain in Oklahoma and western Arkansas over the last two days has resulted in Arkansas River flows exceeding 70,000 cubic feet per second. A crest of 150,000 to 200,000 c.f.s is forecasted from Van Buren to Ozark and a crest of 250,000 to 300,000 c.f.s is forecasted to progress downstream from Dardanelle to Wilbur D. Mills Dam over the next week.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-23 Caution Advisory - HWY 64 Bridge NM 300.4 Update

    The hydrodemolition project over the navigation channel of the HWY 64 Bridge, as noted in Navigation Notice SWL 25-22, has been postponed due to weather. The project is now scheduled to occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 5, 2025.
  • USACE Urges Residents, Visitors to Prepare for Severe Weather

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District, is advising residents and visitors to lakes, rivers and recreation areas to stay alert during severe weather expected this week.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-22 Caution Advisory - HWY 64 Bridge NM 300.4

    Mariners are advised that a hydrodemolition project is scheduled over the navigation span of the HWY 64 Bridge, NM 300.4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 3, 2025. During this time mariners should contact the onsite workboat at VHF Channel 16 or 68, or by phone at (479) 629-2996 prior to arrival to coordinate a work stoppage to allow for safe passage under the bridge.
  • Single lane closure scheduled for Highway 177 across Norfork Dam

    – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is scheduling a single lane closure of Highway 177 across Norfork Dam starting at 6 a.m. March 26, 2025, and continuing through late July 2025, for routine maintenance.

    – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is lifting the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Small craft advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-17 Lock 2 Tow Haulage Return to Service

    The tow haulage equipment at Lock No. 2 (NM 13.3) has been repaired and returned to service.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-16 Lock 2 Tow Haulage Out of Service

    The tow haulage equipment at Lock No. 2 (NM 13.3) is currently out of service. Double cut tows will have to be locked the conventional way (without the use of tow haulage). A follow up notice will be distributed when the tow haulage equipment is back in service.
  • MKARNS Annual Navigation Notice No. 1-2025

    As a result of partnering efforts with navigation stakeholders, the attached consolidated Notice to Navigation Interests has been prepared for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System (MKARNS). The intent is to provide consistency by reviewing and informing current district regulations with a joint notice that will be updated annually. The notice is applicable to the Little Rock (SWL) and Tulsa (SWT) Districts.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-14 Lock 3 Unscheduled Closure

    Due to issues with the Tainter valve equipment, Joe Hardin Lock (No. 3) NM 50.2 is currently closed to traffic. Crews are onsite and will have the Lock reopened as soon as the repairs are completed. A subsequent Navigation Notice will be issued once the Lock has been opened to traffic.
