Partial lane closure underway on County Road 96 bridge in Tichnor

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District has implemented a partial lane closure on the County Road 96 bridge in Tichnor, Arkansas which crosses Lock 2 on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System.

Engineers found deteriorating conditions on one of the bridge's support structures. Additional inspections are underway to determine the extent of the damage and whether repairs are required.

Signage alerts drivers on both sides of the bridge about the closure. Drivers should use caution and watch for oncoming vehicles when crossing the single open lane.

The district regrets any inconvenience the closure may cause. Officials say the action is being taken out of an abundance of caution to protect public safety.
