Boating

Millwood Lake Project includes over 29,000 surface acres of some of the best fishing in the country. Some 20,000 acres of submerged timber provide excellent opportunity for a wide variety of fishing. For years, Millwood has been known as one of the hottest bass fishing lakes in the nation.

We have a Life Jacket Loaner Program that allows boaters or swimmers to borrow life jackets for the day or weekend. The Life Jackets are available at Cottonshed, Beard’s Bluff, and White Cliffs Park Attendant Booths. When finished boating the life jackets may be returned to the same location.

Due to the high winds, stumps, and floating debris Millwood can be a dangerous lake at times. Please wear your life jacket and let someone know where you will be recreating for the day.

There are ten launch ramps located around the lake to provide access to this fishing haven. All launch ramps require a day use fee of $5.00 or you may purchase an Annual Day Use Pass for $40 that is valid for the entire year. America the Beautiful Passes are available for purchase at the Millwood Project Office. Boats are not allowed inside the buoy line of the dam. There are “boat lanes” that mark paths on the lake that boats may follow to navigate around the lake. The “boat lanes” are composed of pilings driven into the lake to make paths. There are signs posted giving directions to different areas of the lake and to mark the river. Debris may still be lodged in these lanes so please navigate with caution.
