CORPS ADVISES LAKE AND RIVER VISITORS TO BE CAUTIOUS LABOR DAY WEEKEND

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District is advising lake and river visitors to be cautious this Labor Day weekend. Labor Day weekend is among the top three busiest weekends of the year at the region’s lakes and rivers, and officials from the district say they expect this year will be no exception. However, they warn visitors to practice good water safety habits to avoid accidents that could result in serious injury or death.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers has lifted the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. Even though flows have receded below that threshold, Corps officials urge boaters to always use caution when on the river.

Corps issues small craft advisory for Arkansas River

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Army Corps of Engineers issued a small craft advisory for the Arkansas River downstream of Van Buren, Arkansas. Overnight heavy rainfall in eastern Oklahoma has caused flows to rise. Small craft advisories are issued when flows exceed 70,000 cubic feet per second. During high flows, strong currents and large debris can threaten the safety of pleasure craft.

ONE LANE OF HIGHWAY 178 BRIDGE ACROSS BULL SHOALS DAM TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers will close one lane of Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Aug. 28, to perform a routine inspection on the dam.

MKARNS - Mariners are advised that a temporary, limited-width channel has been marked with buoys in this area. Mariners are advised to limit tows through this temporary channel to no more than 70 feet wide (the width of 2 standard barges) and 3 standard barges long, and no passing is advised.
