UPDATE - SHOALING BETWEEN NM 221.7 AND 222.5

MCCLELLAN-KERR ARKANSAS RIVER NAVIGATION SYSTEM

Mariners are advised that a temporary, limited-width channel has been marked with buoys in this area.  Mariners are advised to limit tows through this temporary channel to no more than 70 feet wide (the width of 2 standard barges) and 3 standard barges long, and no passing is advised.

The temporary channel’s depth can accommodate a 9-foot draft at the current pool 10 elevation of 339.0, as measured at Dardanelle Lock & Dam (No. 10).  Pool elevation will begin transitioning to 338.5 once the water flow at Dardanelle Lock and Dam is less than 60,000 cubic feet per second.

Mariners are asked to contact the Dardanelle Lock by radio on Channel 16 or by phone at (479) 890-4987 for current information.  Current flow information is also available at http://www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil/pages/data/tabular/htm/dardld.htm

This Navigation Notice will be updated as more information becomes available.  Questions or requests for additional information concerning this notice should be directed to the Little Rock District Office, at (501) 324-5739 or you may email CESWL-OP-OM@usace.army.mil.
