Corps lifts small craft advisory for Arkansas River

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers has lifted the small craft advisory for the Arkansas River. Advisories are issued when flows reach 70,000 cubic feet per second. MKARNS - Due to shallow pool conditions and until further notice, mariners are advised to use caution from NM 143.0 through NM 254.8. No passing is advised while transiting through these locations. This information is based on a preliminary reconnaissance survey, and conditions may change as water flow rates reduce. Clearwater Lake Update -Special Deer Hunts

PIEDMONT, Mo. – The Army Corps of Engineers, Clearwater Lake staff is proud to announce that applications are available for our annual Wounded Warrior deer hunt, Oct. 17 through Oct. 18, as well as our annual mobility impaired deer hunt for non-ambulatory hunters, Oct. 24 through Oct. 25. Flood or Drought: Army Corps of Engineers is there

Remember the drought? What a difference a year can make. I arrived at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division in Dallas about a year ago, and most of the region was in some stage of drought. News coverage highlighted striking images of thirsty lakes, shorelines receding with lakebeds cracked and dry, and low Corps reservoir levels. Communities chafed under lawn watering restrictions.
