Youth Archery Hunt

table rock lake youth archery hunt - ages 6-15The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Table Rock Lake, will host a youth archery hunt October 26 - 27, 2023.  The hunt will take place on Corps property below Table Rock Dam.

Applications to participate must be received by 4 p.m. on October 4th, 2024.  Applications are available online, or in-person at the Dewey Short Visitor Center or Table Rock Lake Project Office. Only five permits will be issued. A lottery system will be used if more than five applications are received.

Youth hunters must be between the ages of six and fifteen by October 25, 2024, and must be accompanied by an assisting adult at least 18 years of age. The assistant will not be permitted to have any weapons or participate in the hunt.

         Please note:  If selected, the hunter and assistant must attend a mandatory safety meeting October 25, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to participate. The hunt will take place October 26 - 27, 2024 during legal hunting hours with set meetings and activities at times to be determined. Hunter and assistant must wear hunter orange.

          Prior to October 25, 2024, selected hunters must possess all necessary permits, tags, or licenses required by Missouri Department of Conservation to legally harvest a deer during archery season.

SAFETY

HUNTING AREAS/ARCHERY EQUIPMENT

  1. Hunters must have an assistant accompanying them during the hunt at least 18 years of age.  The assistant will not be permitted to have any weapon in possession during the hunt.  Only one bow or crossbow per hunting team will be permitted. Hunters and their assistants hunt from their assigned locations only.
     
  2. All weapons will be unloaded until the hunter is safely seated inside their blind or in their hunting location. Bows/crossbows must be unloaded before departing from the blind or hunting location and/or prior to entering a vehicle. All bows/crossbows are to remain unloaded and stored safely away from visitors while in camp.
     
  3. Assistants will provide cellular phones or handheld radios for direct communication to USACE/MDC personnel in case of emergencies or needed assistance.
  4. The hunt area will be closed to regular season hunting. This area will be utilized by youth only, on October 26th and 27th. Signs will be placed in the area to notify any visitors of the special use youth hunt in progress.
     
  5. ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL OR CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES ALLOWED DURING THE EVENT; VIOLATION OF THIS CLAUSE WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION AND EXPULSION FROM THE PREMISES AND THE EVENT.

HUNTER ORANGE

  1. All hunters and their assistants during the hunt must wear hunter orange.
  1. The colored area of the garment be plainly visible from all sides.

SAFETY BRIEFING

Before the hunt begins, the permitted hunter and their assistant will receive instructions and a review of safety rules from Missouri Department of Conservation Agents, Corps of Engineer Staff, and other partnering entities. This mandatory meeting will take place on October 25th from 5pm to 7pm.
