All modifications to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers property around Table Rock Lake require prior written approval. Whether you are requesting a new dock permit, seeking approval to modify vegetation on government land, or need to remove a hazardous tree, you must submit an application to the Table Rock Lake Project Office before beginning any work.

Dock Permit Requests

Shoreline Use Permits required for all private floating facilities on Table Rock Lake

Lake Taneycomo Docks: For dock requests on Lake Taneycomo, please call (417) 213-4796 instead of using this form.

Permit Requirements

Shoreline Use Permits are required for all private floating facilities including:

  • Private boat docks (single owner)
  • Community boat docks (multiple owners)
  • Courtesy boat docks
Important: No new permits will be issued for stand-alone swim docks or mooring buoys. Any newly permitted facility or modification to existing facilities must be located within a Limited Development Area.

Existing Dock Modifications

If you have an existing dock permit and need to make modifications, please note:

  • One request per dock per five-year permit period (can include multiple modifications)
  • Request must be submitted by the permittee
  • Majority approval required: Dock modifications require approval by the majority of slip owners
  • Written approval from slip owners must be submitted with the request
  • Exception: Converting electric service to an alternative source does not count against the one-time modification

Vegetation Permit Requests

Prior written approval required for all vegetation modification on Corps property around the lake

Eligibility Requirements

Property Requirement: You must own property that borders government property on Table Rock Lake to be eligible for a vegetation modification permit.

Activities Requiring Permits

The following activities on Corps property require prior written approval:

  • Mowing grass or clearing brush
  • Under brushing (removing undergrowth)
  • Creating a foot path to the water
  • Dead tree removal
  • All other vegetation modification work

Application Requirements

All persons applying for a vegetation modification permit must submit:

  • Completed Application for Shoreline Use Permit
  • Required application fee
  • Proof of ownership of property adjacent to Corps property

This requirement applies to:

  • Vegetation modification in a new area
  • Change of ownership of an existing Shoreline Use Permit

Hazard Tree Removal Requests

Request removal of fallen or damaged trees that create safety hazards on government property

What Qualifies as a Hazard Tree?

Hazard tree removal permits are for trees on government property that:

  • Have fallen and block access or create obstacles
  • Are damaged and at risk of falling
  • Create a safety hazard to the public
  • Pose a threat to nearby structures or pathways

Request Process

Approval Required: Even for hazardous trees, you must receive approval from the Table Rock Lake Project Office before removal. Do not remove any trees on government property without written authorization.

To request hazard tree removal:

  • Complete the permit request form below
  • Describe the location and condition of the tree(s)
  • Explain why the tree poses a safety hazard
  • Include photos if possible (can be emailed separately)
