    MKARNS NAV NOTICE SWL 17-35 Notice of Safety Zone

    MKARNS - To ensure the safety of life and property during the Pops on the River fireworks display in Little Rock, AR, a safety zone will be established by the Coast Guard for the Arkansas River from mile marker 118.8 to mile marker 119.5. The safety zone will be in effect from 9:20 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on July 4.

    HIGHWAY 32 ACROSS MILLWOOD DAM TO CLOSE JULY 16 FOR INSPECTION

    ASHDOWN, Ark. – Highway 32 across Millwood Lake will close at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, July 16 while the sluice gate conduits at the base of the spillway are inspected. During the inspection, a crane and other heavy equipment will block the bridge across the spillway.

    Col. Paul E. Owen takes command of USACE Southwestern Division

    DALLAS—Col. Paul E. Owen took command of the Southwestern Division today in a ceremony officiated by Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite, Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Owen assumed command from Brig. Gen. David C. Hill, who has served as the commander since 2014 and will take command of the Corps’ Transatlantic Division in July.

    CORPS URGES WATER SAFETY OVER INDEPENDENCE DAY

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. –The Independence Day holiday is typically among the busiest times of the year at the region’s lakes and rivers, and this year, will likely be no exception even with the holiday falling during the week. It is a great time for outdoor water fun, but Army Corps of Engineers officials advise everyone to practice good water safety habits.
