National Engineers Week - 2023

Engineer Week is a celebration that takes place on the third week of February annually because it coincides with President George Washington’s birthday. This is significant, since Washington is considered our Nation’s first engineer, and he also appointed the first engineer officers to the U.S. Army on June 16, 1775, during the American Revolution.

Water Safety this 4th of July

Arkansas Senator John Boozman and Congressman Bruce Westerman took time out of their schedule to talk about water safety with Little Rock District Commander, Colonel Eric Noe. Topics discussed were drinking alcohol while boating and wearing your life jacket when you are in or near the water. There have been seven drownings this year in the Little Rock District. A look back at the career of Louis O.D. Kealer

Louis O.D. Kealer’s career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was impressive. He had contact with literally thousands of persons in the Yell, Logan, and Perry county areas, as well as over the state of Arkansas, during his 50 year career – 42 years at Blue Mountain and Nimrod Lakes. Even if you didn’t know Mr. Kealer personally you may be interested in this as a partial history of the two lakes.

Ray Fish was recently selected as the 2021 SWL Engineer of the Year for the Little Rock District. Fish is a registered professional electrical engineer in the state of Arkansas, a member of the Arkansas Academy of Electrical Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the International Society for Automation.
