  • USACE to begin Millwood Lake drawdown

    ASHDOWN, Ark. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District will begin lowering Millwood Lake on July 17 to improve shoreline vegetation and promote sediment compaction.

    SAILING INSTRUCTIONS NM 256.1 to NM 256.4 AND DOWNSTREAM APPROACH AT OZARK LOCK (No. 12) NM 256.8 MCCLELLAN-KERR ARKANSAS RIVER NAVIGATION SYSTEM Due to shoaling, mariners are advised that until further notice, both upbound and downbound tows should run the green line from NM 256.1 to NM 256.4 and favor the long wall in the downstream approach at Ozark Lock (No. 12) NM 256.8.
  • Temporary full road closure of Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam

    MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is scheduling a full road closure for Highway 178 across Bull Shoals Dam from 6:30 a.m. on July 31 until 5 p.m. Aug. 2, 2023, to deploy and remove equipment used to perform maintenance on the dam.
  • USACE reopens swim beach at Dam Site Lake Island

    ROGERS, Ark. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Beaver Lake Project Office has reopened the swim beach at Dam Site Lake Island. Bacteria levels are now within the acceptable range which allows the swim beach to reopen.
  • NAVIGATION NOTICE - SWL 23-35

    Due to increased river elevations, the crest gate dam at Montgomery Point Lock and Dam (NM 0.5) is lowered and the navigation pass is open. When the Montgomery Point Lock and Dam tailwater elevation drops below 115 ft., the navigation pass will be closed.
  • NAVIGATION NOTICE - SWL 23-34

    Mariners should expect to experience intermittent delays at Dardanelle Lock (No. 10) NM 205.5 on July 25, 2023. The intermittent delays are to allow needed repairs to sections of hydraulic lines associated with lock operations. A subsequent navigation notice will be issued should the work be completed ahead of schedule. However, unforeseen issues could require additional delays.
  • USACE closes swim beach at Dam Site Lake Island until further notice

    ROGERS, Ark. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Beaver Lake Project Office is closing the swim beach at Dam Site Lake Island on Beaver Lake in Northwest Arkansas until further notice. The temporary closure is the result of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by project office personnel.

    Due to falling river elevations, the crest gate dam at Montgomery Point Lock and Dam (NM 0.5) is in operation and the navigation pass is closed. All vessels are required to pass through the lock until further notice.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 23-32 Lock 13 Reopened

    James W. Trimble Lock (No. 13) NM 292.8 has been reopened to traffic. Crews have identified and resolved the issue mentioned in Navigation Notice No. SWL 23-29.
