  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 23-68 UPDATE: White River Entrance Channel

    Dredging operations are progressing downstream of Montgomery Point Lock & Dam (NM 0.5). The Dredge Sandpiper is currently dredging in the downstream approach to the lock with plans to continue in this area until the morning of Thursday, October 26, 2023.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 23-67 Lock 3 Reopened

    The hydraulic system at Joe Hardin Lock (No. 3) NM 50.2 has been repaired and is back in service. The Lock is reopened to navigation traffic.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 23-66 Lock 3 Unscheduled Closure

    The Joe Hardin Lock (No. 3) NM 50.2 is experiencing issues with the hydraulic system and is temporarily closed to traffic. Crews are onsite and will have the Lock reopened as soon as the problem can be resolved. A subsequent Navigation Notice will be issued once the Lock has been opened to traffic.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 23-64 UPDATE: WREC Channel Restriction and Delays

    Crews arrived in the area on Sunday, October 15, 2023, to begin clamming in the downstream approach at Montgomery Point Lock & Dam (NM 0.5). A Notice to Proceed has been given to the Contract Dredge Sandpiper who is expected to arrive in the area and begin dredging on or before Saturday, October 21, 2023. The Dredge Sandpiper is expected to complete dredging operations below Montgomery Point Lock & Dam on or around Saturday, October 28, 2023.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. 23-62 - TOW HAULAGE OUT OF SERVICE DAVID D. TERRY LOCK (No. 6) NM 108.1

    The tow haulage equipment at David D. Terry Lock (No. 6) NM 108.1 is currently out of service. Double cut tows will have to be locked the conventional way (without the use of tow haulage). Another notice will be distributed when the tow haulage equipment is back in service.
  • NAVIGATION NOTICE: SWL 23-56 - McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System

    Mariners are advised that crews will be placing rip rap around the Van Buren Railroad Bridge (NM 300.8).  Work will be performed daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., September 25 through October 4, 2023.  Mariners may contact the onsite workboat, M/V Pine Bluff, on VHF-FM channel 16 or 78 or by phone at (318) 452-5448.  Mariners are advised to transit the area with caution.
  • USACE announces early opening of campsites ahead of 2024 solar eclipse

    USACE is announcing the early opening of several campsites in the Little Rock District to facilitate the influx of people to Arkansas and Missouri for the solar eclipse happening on April 8, 2024.
  • MKARNS NAVIGATION NOTICE - The Lock interlock system upgrades at Joe Hardin Lock (No. 3) NM 50.2 are complete

    The Lock interlock system upgrades at Joe Hardin Lock (No. 3) NM 50.2 are complete. The Lock is fully opened to navigation traffic and no further delays or closures associated with upgrading the Lock interlock system are expected.
  • MKARNS NAVIGATION NOTICE - SWL 23-53

    A Military River Crossing Exercise is scheduled to occur September 9 through September 15, 2023, between NM 289.0 and NM 292.8 (James W. Trimble Lock & Dam, No. 13). The exercise is scheduled to take place daily between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Mariners are advised to use extreme caution when transiting the area. Mariners could also experience intermittent delays during this time.
  • MKARNS NAVIGATION NOTICE - SWL 23-52

    Mariners should expect to experience intermittent delays at Norrell Lock (No. 1) NM 10.3 and Lock No. 2 NM 13.3 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on September 14 through September 24, 2023. The intermittent delays are required to facilitate underwater dive operations in the Lock chambers.
