  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-54 Lock 10 and Lock 13 Special Locking Instructions

    Mariners are advised of special locking instructions due to ongoing construction and limited lock availability at Dardanelle Lock (No. 10) NM 205.5 and James W. Trimble Lock (No. 13) NM 292.8.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. 25-53 Lock Crew Changes

    Towboats requesting to make crew changes or to have goods or services delivered at Little Rock District navigation locks (Montgomery Point Lock and Dam, L&D’s 1-13) on the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System are asked to comply with the procedures listed below, as detailed in the MKARNS Annual Navigation Notice #1, Appendix D:
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-50 Dardanelle Hinged Pool Operation

    To promote beneficial scouring of shoals in the Dardanelle Pool following recent sustained high-water flows, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District, will conduct a “Hinged Pool” operation from Thursday, July 10th, 2025, through Wednesday, July 17th, 2025.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-48 Lock 1 Operational

    Due to tailwater elevations falling below 143.0 feet at Norrell Lock (No. 1) NM 10.3, the lock chamber is now operational for navigation.  All vessels are required to pass through lock. Vessels may contact Norrell Lock and Dam on Channel 16 for further information.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-34 Lock 1 Navigation Pass Open (Through Lock)

    The tailwater elevation at Norrell Lock (No. 1) NM 10.3 has exceeded 143.0 feet. All vessels will be directed to transit through the lock chamber with pinned open gates while the tailwater elevation remains above 143.0 feet. When the tailwater elevation drops below 143.0 feet, vessels will use the lock. Prior to arrival, vessels shall contact lock personnel at (501) 324-7341 or on channel 16 to receive the latest information regarding any changes to the special navigation procedures at Lock 1.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-33 Lock 1 Tow Haulage Out of Service

    The tow haulage equipment at Norrell Lock (No. 1) NM 10.3 is currently out of service. Double cut tows will have to be locked the conventional way (without the use of tow haulage). A follow up notice will be distributed when the tow haulage equipment is back in service.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-32 Lock 1 Operational

    Due to tailwater elevations falling below 143.0 feet at Norrell Lock (No. 1) NM 10.3, the lock chamber is now operational for navigation. All vessels are required to pass through lock.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-31 Lock 5 DS Appr - Sailing Instruction

    Due to shoaling, mariners are advised that until further notice, both upbound and downbound tows should favor the long wall in the downstream approach to Colonel Charles D. Maynard Lock (No. 5) NM 86.3.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-23 Caution Advisory - HWY 64 Bridge NM 300.4 Update

    The hydrodemolition project over the navigation channel of the HWY 64 Bridge, as noted in Navigation Notice SWL 25-22, has been postponed due to weather. The project is now scheduled to occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 5, 2025.
  • MKARNS Nav Notice No. SWL 25-22 Caution Advisory - HWY 64 Bridge NM 300.4

    Mariners are advised that a hydrodemolition project is scheduled over the navigation span of the HWY 64 Bridge, NM 300.4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 3, 2025. During this time mariners should contact the onsite workboat at VHF Channel 16 or 68, or by phone at (479) 629-2996 prior to arrival to coordinate a work stoppage to allow for safe passage under the bridge.
