Camping at Blue Mountain

Camping opportunities are abundant at Blue Mountain Lake.  In Waveland and Outlet Parks, you can select one of 87 beautiful, tree-shaded campsites with electrical and water hookups. Restroom and shower facilities are located in these parks. Camping is offered year round with some reduction in services and facilities during the November through February timeframe.

 Waveland Park 

Description: Waveland Park is located on the lake just upstream of Blue Mountain Dam. The park provides camping, swimming, access for boating, sightseeing, and a place to relax.

Location: Follow State Highway 10 to Waveland, Arkansas. Turn south on State Highway 309 for one mile, then turn west on Waveland Park Road for approximately one mile to the park.

Facilities: Waveland Park has 51 campsites with electrical and water hookups, a dump station, waterborne restrooms with showers, fish cleaning station, swim beach, playground, launching ramps, group picnic shelter, and amphitheater.

 Outlet Park

Description: Outlet Area Park is located just downstream of Blue Mountain Dam. Water flow from the dam travels down the river channel through the park as it heads further down in the Petit Jean River Valley.

Location: Follow State Highway 10 to Waveland, AR. Turn south on State Highway 309 for one mile, then turn west on Waveland Park Road traveling one mile. Turn left on Outlet Park Road near the Blue Mountain Lake Field Office (watch for signs). The park is located south of Blue Mountain Dam.

Facilities: The river channel through the park provides visitors excellent bank fishing opportunities. Outlet Area is also an excellent area to camp, picnic, or sightsee. There are 36 campsites with electricity and water hookups, this includes 3 multi-family sites. Additional amenities include a dump station, waterborne restrooms with showers, playground, and fish cleaning station.

 Ashley Creek

Description: Ashley Creek is located on Blue Mountain Lake approximately two miles south of the town of Blue Mountain. The park provides boat launching, fishing, picnicking, and sightseeing.

Location: Follow State Highway 10 to the town of Blue Mountain, Arkansas. Turn south on Ritchie Road for approximately two miles to the park.

Facilities: Ashley Creek provides a boat launching ramp and a vault restroom.

Fees: None.

 Lick Creek


Description:
Lick Creek is located on Blue Mountain Lake approximately four miles south of Waveland, Arkansas.

Location: Follow State Highway 10 to Waveland, Arkansas. Turn south on State Highway 309 for approximately four miles to the park.

Facilities: Lick Creek provides a boat launching ramp only.

Fees: None.

 

Hise Hill

 
Description: Hise Hill is located on the Petit Jean River at the headwaters of Blue Mountain Lake, approximately eleven miles southeast of Booneville, Arkansas. The park provides boat launching, fishing, picnicking, and sightseeing.

Location: Follow State Highway 10 to Booneville, Arkansas. Turn south on State Highway 23 for approximately ½ mile. Turn east on State Highway 217 for approximately eleven miles to the park.

Facilities: Hise Hill provides a boat launching ramp, vault restroom and water hydrant.

Fees: None.

 

Is primitive camping allowed at Blue Mountain Lake? 

Primitive Camping Area

Yes, primitive camping is allowed at Blue Mountain Lake. We have seven designated primitive camping areas available for you to enjoy.  We ask that you fill out a Primitive Camping Permit and bring it to the Blue Mountain Lake Field Office before going camping.  You may camp for up to 14 days.  After that time, your permit will expire, but you can request an extention.
