MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Army Corps of Engineers is reminding the public that it’s accepting applications through Oct. 31 for a youth muzzleloader hunt to be held Dec.13 and 14 at Ozark Isle Park on Bull Shoals Lake. Ten permits will be issued to hunter education graduates, 15 years old and under.
Interested youth hunters must include their hunter education identification number on their application which is due Oct. 31. A random drawing will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 13 at the Corps’ Project Office in Mountain Home, Ark. to select the ten hunters.
This hunt provides access and hunting blinds to help youth enjoy a safe and successful outdoor recreation experience. This opportunity helps create an interest in conservation, the outdoors, and to develop good hunting ethics, while improving the deer herd in this area.
An unarmed adult, at least 21 years old, must accompany youth hunters during the hunt. Youth hunters will be limited to muzzleloaders only.
Application forms are available online at: http://go.usa.gov/GEn9 and the Corps of Engineers office at 324 West 7th St. in Mountain Home or by calling Park Ranger Carrie Lamb at 870-425-2700 ext. 1400 or Natural Resource Specialist Ty Fowler at 870-425-2700 ext. 1433.
