LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – North Little Rock native Jan Jones has been named the Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District 2013 Engineer of the Year.  Jones’ achievements as a hydraulic engineer and water management tech specialist for the White River System elevated her to top honors. 

Jones’ work has been instrumental in developing a complex next generation computer model for the White River System that will allow the district to quickly analyze 70 years of data to simulate river flows to compare impacts of changes to system operation plans. In addition, Jones’ engagement in regional and national level teams makes her a "go to" person in the area of water management. Her expertise on the White River Systems is well known and sought out by her colleagues.

Jones began work as a data systems manager in 1987 for the Little Rock District.  Since then she has served in a variety of roles including chief of reservoir control.

Jones is a 1984 graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science Degree in civil engineering.  She is a registered professional engineer in the state of Arkansas.
