  • MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 26-02 Lock Closure Forecast - 2026

    The purpose of this Navigation Notice is to provide forecasted lock closures for the 110-ft Stoplog Conversion projects in 2026. The information below is considered tentative and the closure details could change depending on site conditions, construction means and methods and other variables.

  • MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 25-91 MPLD Nav Pass Closed

    Due to falling river elevations, the crest gate dam at Montgomery Point Lock and Dam (NM 0.5) is in operation and the navigation pass is closed. All vessels are required to pass through the lock until further notice.

  • MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 25-90 MPLD Nav Pass Open

    Due to increased river elevations, the crest gate dam at Montgomery Point Lock and Dam (NM 0.5) is lowered and the navigation pass is open. When the Montgomery Point Lock and Dam tailwater elevation drops below 115 ft, the navigation pass will be closed. Vessels may contact Montgomery Point Lock and Dam on Channel 16 for further information.

  • MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 25-89 Sailing Instructions NM 237.1 to NM 238.3

    Due to shoaling, mariners are advised that until further notice, both upbound and downbound tows should favor the red buoys from NM 237.1 to NM 238.3.

  • MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 25-87 MPLD Scheduled Lock Closure

    Montgomery Point Lock & Dam (NM 0.5) will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on December 8, 2025. The purpose of the closure is to facilitate dive crews to clear any remaining debris from the behind the downstream miter gates.

  • MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 25-85 MPLD Reopened - Width Restriction

    Mongomery Point Lock & Dam (NM 0.5) has reopened to navigation traffic. However, the downstream river wall miter gate is failing to recess due to an obstruction behind the gate. Crews are continuing to work to resolve the issue.

  • MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 25-84 Sailing Instructions Lifted

    The sailing instructions for the downstream approach at Norrell Lock & Dam NM 10.3 to NM 9.6, noted in Nav Notice SWL 25-81, have been lifted.

  • MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 25-83 MPLD NavPass Closed

    Due to falling river elevations, the crest gate dam at Montgomery Point Lock and Dam (NM 0.5) is in operation and the navigation pass is closed.

  • MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 25-82 MPLD Lock Closure

    Montgomery Point Lock and Dam is closed to navigation due to silt and debris interfering with the operation of the lock’s miter gates.

  • MKARNS Nav Notice SWL 25-81 Sailing Instructions NM 9.6 to NM 10.3

    Due to shoaling and low White River stages, it is recommended to draft no more than 8 ft from NM 9.6 to NM 10.3. Additionally, it is advised to follow the centerline in this area. This issue is expected to improve as water levels rise in the coming days.
