SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

NM 221.9 to NM 223.0

MCCLELLAN-KERR ARKANSAS RIVER NAVIGATION SYSTEM

Due to shoaling, mariners are advised that until further notice, both upbound and downbound tows should use extreme caution between NM 221.9 and NM 223.0.  No passing is advised while transiting through this reach.

A hydrographic survey of this area has been completed, but buoys in the area are missing or displaced due to the high water, making it impossible to recommend specific sailing instructions.  The Army Corps of Engineers vessel M/V Shorty Baird and its crane barge will be in this area for the next several days to reset buoys and clam high spots.  Updates to this Navigation Notice will be issued as more specific sailing instructions are developed.

Questions or requests for additional information concerning this notice should be directed to James McKinnie in the Little Rock District Office, at (501) 324-5739 or (501) 324-5096, or you may email CESWL-OP-OM@usace.army.mil.
