PLAINVIEW, Ark. – With the turn of the New Year, many people will soon be thinking about spring and summer camping and fishing trips. The Army Corps of Engineers at Nimrod and Blue Mountain lakes wants to inform you about some changes to the reservable sites at both lakes.
Some campsites that were reservable in the past are now first come first served. Corps officials have removed some of the campsites from the reservation system that frequently flood in an attempt to keep from having to cancel reservations during minor flooding events.
On the other hand, some of the more desirable campsites, which were first come first served in the past, are now reservable.
The reservation season at both lakes is March 15 through Oct. 25. Reservations may be made up to six months in advance. To ensure your favorite campsite is available upon arrival call the National Recreation Reservation Service at 1-877-444-6777 or visit http://www.recreation.gov.
Nimrod Lake reservable campsites are:
River Road Park: Sites 1-8 and 1P-6P (Project Point Loop)
Quarry Cove Park: Sites 1-22 and 29-31
Carter Cove Park: Sites 1-12 and 17-34
Sunlight Bay Park: Sites 1-11, 15-18, 22 and 26-28
Blue Mountain Lake reservable campsites are:
Outlet Area Park: Sites 11-36
Waveland Park: Sites 7-50
Corps Officials hope to see you at Nimrod Lake or Blue Mountain Lake this year. Remember to be safe while enjoying your public recreation areas. Wear your life jacket and watch for others when boating. You might be doing everything right, but another boater who is not paying attention, could put you or those with you in serious danger.
