HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – The Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District will begin a spillway release from Greers Ferry Dam Thursday as downstream conditions improve.
Three gates will be opened one foot and will be releasing about 2,800 cubic feet per second. Combined with the 24 hour hydropower release from one unit, the total release will be 6,000 c.f.s.
On Jan. 19, the three remaining gates will be opened to one-half foot each and release an additional 1,400 c.f.s. for a total spillway release of 4,200 c.f.s.
Once all six spillway gates are in use the total combined spillway and hydropower release will be 7,400 c.f.s.
One hydropower unit is offline for maintenance. The combined hydropower and spillway releases will continue until the lake falls below 463 feet or the second hydropower unit is back online.
