HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – One lane of traffic across Greers Ferry Dam is closed until the end of January 2016 while work is performed on the dam’s turbine intake gates. Additional work to repair the dam’s monolith joints will begin Monday Nov. 16 which will require a lane shift.
The one lane traffic plan is being modified to allow for a drilling rig and additional equipment to repair monolith joints. Traffic lights will continue to be used on both ends of the dam to ensure a safe flow of traffic around the workers and equipment until the projects are complete.
The lane closure has been coordinated with local emergency and law enforcement agencies. Officials from the Corps regret any inconvenience this may cause and ask motorists to drive slowly, plan alternate routes and allow extra time to reach your destination.
For more information call the Greers Ferry Project office at 501-362-2416, or stop by the office near the dam on Highway 25, three miles north of Heber Springs.
