MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- The Army Corps of Engineers is accepting applications through Nov. 9 for a youth muzzleloader deer hunt Dec. 12 and 13 in Ozark Isle Park/Dry Run Area on Bull Shoals Lake.  Six permits will be issued to hunter education graduates, 15 years old and under.

Interested youth hunters must include their hunter education identification number on their application.  A random drawing will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 12 at the Corps’ Project Office in Mountain Home, Ark. to select the six hunters.

This hunt provides access and hunting blinds to help youth enjoy a safe and successful outdoor recreational experience.  This opportunity helps create an interest in conservation, the outdoors, and to develop a good hunting ethics, while improving the deer herd in this area.

An unarmed adult, at least 21 years old, must accompany youth hunters during the hunt.  Youth hunters will be limited to muzzleloaders only.

Application forms are available online at:  http://www.swl.usace.army.mil/Portals/50/docs/bullshoalslake/2015%20Youth%20Hunt%20app%20packet.pdf and may be picked at the Corps of Engineers office at 324 West 7th St. in Mountain Home or by calling Wildlife Biologist Ty Fowler at 870-425-2700 ext. 1433.
