LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -  The Army Corps of Engineers issued a small craft advisory for the Arkansas River from Conway, Ark. downstream. Recent heavy rains caused flows to rise.  During high flows, strong currents and large debris can threaten the safety of pleasure craft.

Small craft advisories are issued when flows exceed 70,000 cubic feet per second.  Flows at Toad Suck Lock and Dam at Conway are about 83,000 c.f.s.  Flows at Murray Lock and Dam at Little Rock are about 88,000 c.f.s.  Flows at Emmett Sanders Lock and Dam at Pine Bluff are about 89,000 c.f.s. Flows at Mills Dam near Arkansas Post were about 90,000 c.f.s.

More rain could push flows higher or cause the advisory to remain in effect longer.  Daily river information can be obtained at www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil or the Corps’ mobile App which can be found in mobile App stores by searching for USACE Little Rock.
