NAV NOTICE SWL 14-04 MKARNS - River Closure at NM300.8

The U.S. Coast Guard has closed the Arkansas River to navigation traffic at the Van Buren Railroad Drawbridge (NM 300.8).  Lift cables on one end of the navigation span have failed and the bridge is immobilized with one end of the span about fifteen feet higher than the other. 

The Railroad estimates the bridge should be in the down position by this evening, and expects the bridge will be lifted by January 28, 2014.  At that time, traffic will be allowed to pass.
