LITTLE ROCK, Ark.  – Beginning today the Little Rock District, Corps of Engineers is reopening Corps-operated campgrounds, day-use areas and boat launch ramps that are normally open this time of year.

"Our ranger staff hit the ground running this morning opening facilities,” said Little Rock District Commander Col. Courtney W. Paul. “Most parks will open today, and with only a few exceptions, all normally open parks will be open Friday morning at 9 a.m.   We are conducting pre-scheduled roadwork at Project Point at Lake Nimrod and Outlet Park at Blue Mountain which will delay their opening.  In some of the less-used camping areas at Bull Shoals and Norfok Lakes there will be slight delays in getting power and water turned back on, but we expect this to be complete by the end of day on Friday.  We will continue to keep parks open as previously planned for their normally scheduled season.”

Visitors can log online to www.recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777 to verify if a facility is normally open and when it typically closes for this recreational season.

Recreational sites closed Oct. 1 because of the government shutdown. Visitors whose reservations were cancelled during the shutdown will receive a full refund. To request a refund, please call customer service at 1-888-448-1474 (TDD 1-877-833-6777).
