NAV NOTICE SWL 13-44 & TD 2013-17 - JOINT NOTICE OF LOCKS REMAINING OPEN DURING GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

During the Government shutdown, all locks will be operated continually as under normal circumstances.  However, due to the absence of appropriations our maintenance staff is furloughed and will not be on site at each lock.  They will be in an on-call status in the event that they are needed to perform critical repairs.  Therefore response time to repairs may not be as timely as under normal operating conditions.

Also, during the shutdown Corps employees will not be available to issue navigation notices.  Therefore, mariners are advised to contact each lock for navigation questions.
