HAVANA, Ark. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Blue Mountain Lake Field Office is reopening the swim beach at Waveland Park.

The temporary closures were the result of higher than acceptable E. coli levels that were found during routine testing conducted by field office personnel. Two acceptable water samples are required by the Arkansas Department of Health prior to reopening a swim beach.

Water levels remain high across the region, increasing the risk of underwater hazards. Submerged debris can pose dangers to both swimmers and boaters.

USACE urges the public to use caution and stay alert for potential obstacles. Boaters should proceed slowly near the shore and use a spotter or depth finder to help avoid damage to their vessels.

For more information, please contact the Blue Mountain Lake Field Office at 479-947-2372. To check the closure status of other swim beaches in the Little Rock District visit https://www.swl.usace.army.mil/Home/Swim-Beach-Closures/.
