LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wants to remind the public that the seasonal regulating stage for the White River at Newport and Georgetown, Ark. will increase from 12 feet to 24 feet effective Dec. 1, 2024.

This adjustment is part of our annual water management strategy for the missions of flood control, hydropower generation, water supply, environmental sustainability, and recreation. The change in regulating stage may impact those hunting, fishing, or working on the White River. We urge all river users to exercise caution and be aware that water levels may start to rise.

Depending on rainfall, additional releases from dams along the White River may start as early as the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
