UPDATE: WHITE RIVER ENTRANCE CHANNEL
MONTGOMERY POINT L&D (NM 0.5) TO MISSISSIPPI RIVER
MCCLELLAN-KERR ARKANSAS RIVER NAVIGATION SYSTEM

Dredging operations are progressing downstream of Montgomery Point Lock & Dam (NM 0.5). The Dredge Sandpiper is currently dredging in the downstream approach to the lock with plans to continue in this area until the morning of Thursday, October 26, 2023. At that time, the Dredge Sandpiper will move and reconfigure to a different cut line on the left descending side of the channel. Due to favorable tailwater elevations, the current 7-ft draft restriction will be lifted at 8:00 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023, and traffic is schedule to begin moving through the area at that time.

A locking queue has been developed and is being managed by the Lock Operators at Montgomery Point Lock & Dam. For Mariners who are not currently in the locking queue, the following instructions apply:

For upbound traffic (traveling up the Mississippi River), please contact Montgomery Point Lock & Dam via VHF-FM radio on channel 13 or 16 or via phone at 501-324-7340 once you reach Victoria Bend (NM 595) on the Mississippi River to be entered into the queue and given further instructions.

For upbound traffic (traveling down the Mississippi River), please contact Montgomery Point Lock & Dam via VHF-FM radio on channel 13 or 16 or via phone at 501-324-7340 once you reach Dennis Landing (NM 610) on the Mississippi River to be entered into the queue and given further instructions.

For downbound traffic, please contract Montgomery Point Lock & Dam via VHF-FM radio on channel 13 or 16 or via phone at 501-324-7340 once you reach Pendleton Bridge (NM 22.6) on the Arkansas River to be entered into the queue and given further instructions.

Attached to this Navigation Notice is a sailing line (.gpx) file that can be uploaded into an electronic navigation system, such as Rose Point, that should aid in running the center of the recently dredged cut in the downstream approach to Montgomery Point Lock & Dam.

A subsequent Navigation Notice will be issued should any significant changes in conditions occur.

Questions or requests for additional information concerning this notice should be directed to the Little Rock District Office, at (501) 324-5096 or you may email CESWL-OP-OM@usace.army.mil.
