MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District will hold two public workshops Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in Mountain Home to discuss the master plan update process and seek input from the public on the draft Norfork Lake Master Plan. All interested persons are invited.
A draft Environmental Assessment for the master plan, which evaluates the potential impacts of each alternative, will also be available for review.
The drop-in workshops will be held from 3:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sept.30 and 12 p.m. until 4 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Arkansas State University Sheid Convention Center, 1600 S. College Street, Mountain Home. Due to COVID protocols, the Sheid Convention Center requires mandatory masking and six- foot social distancing at their venue. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided for attendees.
USACE’s master plans set the vision for all use and development of a project’s federal public lands and waters surrounding our reservoirs, recognizing the ongoing activities of others in the watershed; specifically, environmental stewardship and recreation related purposes.
Representatives from USACE will be present to answer questions on the master plan revision process and to explain the difference between a master plan and a shoreline management plan. Anyone with any interest in the future management of Norfork Lake is encouraged to attend and participate.
The public’s input may be provided at the workshops or at any time during the public comment period. The comment period will run from Sept.15 through Oct. 29.
