Mariners are advised that shoaling is present in the downstream approach to Norrell Lock (No.1) NM 10.3. Currently there are locations in the navigation channel that are less than 10 feet deep. The White River long range forecast indicates decreasing tailwater elevations at Lock 1, which will present unfavorable navigation conditions. The dredge contractor is currently on site, however, clamming operations are also being considered in order to assist in the effort to maintain the appropriate navigation depths. Mariners are advised to contact the lock before transiting the area to obtain current conditions.
