To ensure the safety of life and property on the navigable waters of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System (MKARNS) during repair of the Interstate 30 (I-30) Bridge in Little Rock, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has issued notice of a transit restriction on the Arkansas River at NM 118.5.
The pier protection cell upstream and north of the alternate navigation span of the I-30 Bridge has collapsed and is scheduled for replacement by Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) contractors. Downbound transits through the left alternate navigation span currently represent a hazard of allisions with the bridge pier. All downbound vessels are directed to use only the right main navigation span until the pier protection cell has been replaced. Repair work is expected to begin late July. Vessels transiting upbound may continue using either navigation span.
Vessels may contact USCG Sector Lower Mississippi River via telephone at 866-777-2784 or on VHF-FM Channel-16 for further information.
Questions or requests for additional information concerning this notice should be directed to the Little Rock District Office, at (501) 324-5739 or you may email CESWL-OP-OM@usace.army.mil.
