HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – With the approval of the new master plan, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces the moratorium at Greers Ferry Lake is lifted. The temporary lift of the moratorium starts Aug. 9 and ends Sept. 30.

Any actions processed during this time must meet the recently completed Greers Ferry Lake master plan and the existing  shoreline management plan.  Processing will be on a case by case basis and could take some time due to the ongoing Greers Ferry Lake SMP update.

The Corps will begin the SMP update later this month with scoping workshops. A separate notice, with more information about the workshops and the public comment period, is expected to be announced soon.

The new SMP will establish policies and furnish guidelines for the protection and conservation of the desirable environmental characteristics of Greers Ferry Lake, while maintaining a balance between public and private shoreline use.
