Navigation Notice

As noted in SWL 19-12, mariners are advised that, until further notice, no passing should occur when transiting the Montgomery Point Lock and Dam navigation pass.  Both upbound and downbound tows should favor the lock wall side of the navigation pass, staying 75 feet away from the lock wall poles.

Before using the pass, mariners should contact Montgomery Point Lock and Dam on Channel 16 for current information.  Between the hours of 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM each day, mariners should contact Norrell Lock & Dam (No. 1) NM 10.3 on Channel 16 for this same information.

To date the Little Rock District hydrographic survey team has not been able to locate the 45’ long navigation aid light pole.  USACE is in the process of establishing a virtual marker to identify the light pole’s original location on the navigable pass abutment pier.

This Navigation Notice will be updated as more information becomes available.  Questions or requests for additional information concerning this notice should be directed to the Little Rock District Office, at (501) 324-5739 or you may email CESWL-OP-OM@usace.army.mil.
