Dewey Short Visitor Center

BRANSON, Mo.--Dewey Short Visitor Center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  It is located just south of Table Rock Dam on State Highway 165.  The visitor center offers interactive displays, a 22 minute movie about the purpose and construction of the dam, as well as viewing decks overlooking Table Rock Lake and Dam. Picnic facilities and a 2.2 mile asphalt surface trail are located on the visitor center grounds. Park rangers will be offering the following interpretive programs and events at Dewey Short Visitor Center during the month of July.  All programs are free of charge and no registration is required.

Visit with a park ranger at the overlook beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesdays, July 4, 11, 18 and 25.  The ranger will be available to answer questions and point out features of the dam and powerhouse. Visitors can come and go. Meet at the overlook off Highway 165, just across the highway from the Dewey Short Visitor Center.  The ranger will be on-site for 30 minutes. This program is appropriate for all ages.

Stop by the Dewey Short Visitor Center on Fridays, July 6, 13 and 27 at 11 a.m. to learn about Table Rock Lake’s Dam and the production and benefits of hydropower. You can also participate in learning about the impacts on our water ways and quality by aquatic invasive species at the Dewey Short Visitor Center at 11 a.m. on Sundays July 8, 15, and 22. These programs are great for any age but best for those who are 7 years of age and up.

Finally, on July 20, grab a water bottle and take a 30-minute hike with a park ranger to learn about various plants and animals along the way. This program is fun for all ages. The hike will be on our asphalt trail along the shoreline. Meet at the Dewey Short Visitor Center lobby at 11 a.m. to start your adventure with the ranger.

Some programs may be cancelled in inclement weather.  For more information or to check the status of a program, please call 501-340-1943.
