LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -  The Army Corps of Engineers issues a small craft advisory for the Arkansas River downstream of Dardanelle Lock and Dam.  Recent rains in Arkansas have caused flows to rise.  During high flows, strong currents and large debris can threaten the safety of pleasure craft.

Small craft advisories are issued when flows exceed 70,000 cubic feet per second. Flows at Dardanelle Lock and Dam at Russellville today are 67,000 c.f.s.  Flows at Murray Lock and Dam at Little Rock are about 68,000 c.f.s.  Flows at Emmett Sanders Lock and Dam at Pine Bluff are about 72,000 c.f.s.

Flows at Dardanelle Lock and Dam and further downstream are expected to remain near the advisory levels for the next few days.

More rain could push flows higher or cause the advisory to remain in effect longer.  Daily river information can be obtained at www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil or the Corps’ mobile App which can be found in mobile App stores by searching for USACE Little Rock.
