MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – The Little Rock District of the Army Corps of Engineers will increase releases from Norfork Dam to 25,000 cubic feet to begin at noon today.
The release will be a combination of the 12 spillway gates opened to one and one-half feet releasing 19,000 cubic feet per second in addition to 6,000 c.f.s. being released through two turbine generators. This amount is about half of what was being released earlier in the week.
Norfork Lake is expect to rise to between elevation 580 and 580.5 because of last night’s 1.8 inch rain.
Gages used by our hydraulic engineers to monitor inflow into Norfork Lake were washed away during the April 28-29 rain event which makes monitoring inflow into the lake more difficult.
Although National Weather Service is predicting dry conditions through May 10, future rainfall may cause the Corps to increase releases from Norfork Lake.
If you have questions, call the Mountain Home Project Office at 870-425-2700. Daily lake information can be obtained at www.swl-wc.usace.army.mil or the Corps’ mobile App which can be found in mobile App stores by searching for USACE Little Rock.
